To protect against the heat follow these simple guidelines:
- regularly check weather forecasts,
- try to stay out of the sun between 11am and 3pm,
- if you do go out in the heat, walk in the shade, apply sunscreen and wear a hat or scarf,
- wear light, loose fitting cotton clothes,
- drink water regularly,
- avoid dehydrating drinks such as tea, coffee and alcohol,
- avoid extreme physical exertion,
- keep your environment cool.
